    What: Experimental Aircraft Association presents 1929 Ford Tri Motor Airliner Rides

    Why: Recall the energy, passion, and excitement of the Roaring ’20s by flying aboard the Ford Tri-Motor. Known as the first luxury airliner, the Ford Tri-Motor redefined world travel and marked the beginning of commercial flight. All ticket proceeds support the Experimental Aircraft Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to sharing The Spirit of Aviation with everyone. Tour stops are hosted by volunteers who are passionate about sharing the Ford Tri-Motor’s stories.

    What: Scarborough Renaissance Festival

    Why: Renaissance themed festival set in a re-created 16th Century English village celebrates the mirth and merriment, sights, sounds and tastes of the days of King Henry VIII. Set on 35 acres, the “village” of Scarborough offers continuous entertainment for 8 weekends. Visitors will encounter colorful characters such as knights, villagers, fire jugglers, jousters, sword fighters and turtle racers. Eat a giant turkey leg, buy a longbow or some jewelry at the shops, watch a village artisan at work, stop in the Elkhorn Tavern or Dirty Duck Pub, or simply take in the sights

    What: Texas’ Tribute to Elvis

    Why: Fans of the legendary Elvis Presley can get their fix of all things “King” when the Texas’ Tribute to Elvis festival returns for a second year to Plano’s Southfork Ranch. Licensed by and in partnership with Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc., the three-day festival will feature wall-to-wall performances by tribute artists and other celebrities, parties, and Texas’ only official preliminary heat for the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist contest to be held during Elvis Week in Memphis, Tennessee this August. Visitors can hear stories about Elvis from those who knew and worked with him at a special “Conversations on Elvis” discussion. Celebrity panelists include Don Collier (Elvis’ co-star in Paradise Hawaiian Style), Charles Stone (tour producer for Elvis during the 1970s), Chris Christian (songwriter and record producer) and Jimmy Velvet (recording artist who toured with Elvis). A highlight of the weekend will be the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist preliminary contest featuring up to 25 performers from around Texas.

    What: Famous Monsters Convention Dallas

    Why: Famous Monsters has been the leading authority on all things horror, sci-fi, and fantasy related for 59 years. Established in 1958 by Forrest J. Ackerman, decades of fandom celebration will be brought to the Famous Monsters Convention. The convention will feature the directorial team of Shin Godzilla, a 30th anniversary celebration of Star Trek: The Next Generation with the cast members, and the Lone Gunmen of the X-Files, among others.The event will also feature the 2nd Annual Silver Scream Fest, at which films from indie filmmakers all around the world will be shown and awarded. There will also be vendors, artists, comics, celebrity meet and greets, and VR experiences.

    What: U2: The Joshua Tree Tour with the Lumineers
    When: Fri. May 26th @ 7:00PM
    Where: AT&T Stadium

    Why: It’s nearly impossible to believe that it’s been 30 years since U2 released its landmark 1987 album “The Joshua Tree.” But it has been, and to celebrate, U2 will return to select stadiums this year.

    What: National Polka Festival
    When: Fri. May 26th – Sun. May 28th @ 7:00PM (Fri) and 10:00AM (Sat & Sun)
    Where: Downtown Ennis

    Why: If you love a good performance on an accordion, this annual Czech heritage festival is for you. The fun kicks off with a dance featuring polka music and the King and Queen Dance Contest, where dancers will be clothed in traditional Czech kroje (folk costumes). There’s also a Saturday morning parade, performances by 14 polka bands including Brave Combo, a country concert by Bart Crow and special guest Ray Johnston Band, arts and crafts, kids activities, a kolache-eating contest and plenty of chances to dance. The whole shebang takes place throughout the historic downtown area and in three nearby event halls. Don’t worry: There’ll be plenty of Czech foods during the fest to keep you going. Downtown activities are free; daily admission to the halls ranges from $8-$15 and free for kids 12 and younger.

    What: 4th Annual Sean Ashford Music Festival

    Why: The Sean Ashford Music Fund will present the 4th Annual Sean Ashford Music Festival, benefiting Girls Rock Dallas and Anthropos Arts. This all day event includes six bands hailing from across Dallas-Fort Worth, featuring headliners The Orange and Carbon. The event will feature a silent auction and raffles throughout the day for autographed music memorabilia spanning decades of rock history. This curated collection will include signed drums and guitars from the greats like Carmine Appice, Bryan Keeling, and others. Limited edition rock photograph prints will be available from some of your favorite classic rock greats (think Van Halen, The Eagles, Deftones, Mothership, Ghost, HellYeah, Down and many more) by award-winning music photographers, plus some never-before-seen sports memorabilia. Proceeds from the event will support the Sean Ashford Fund in providing the development of creative musical capabilities and access to music education for youth musicians across Texas. Contributions allow for the donation of instruments, lessons, mentoring and financial aid for children’s music programs to Girls Rock Dallas and Anthropos Arts

    What: Liberty Fest Presents: Stars and Stripes

    Why: Farmers Branch Memorial Day fest features a concert by the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra followed by a low-level fireworks show. Lawn chairs and blankets encouraged. There will be plenty of family friendly pre-concert activities including tours of the park’s historic General Store, School and Log Culture Cabins. The KidZone features inflatables, crafts and other free activities. Concessions will be available for purchase including beer, wine, and snacks. Admission is free. Parking will be available at Metro Square Business Park, 12300 Ford Road, with free shuttle service to the park.

    What: Festival de Verano – Summer Flamenco Showcase
    When: Sat. May 27th @ 7:00PM -9:00PM
    Where: Latino Cultural Center

    Why: The Latino Cultural Center comes alive with the sights and sounds of Spain as the Daniel de Córdoba Bailes Españoles performs authentic Spanish classical, regional & Flamenco dances, songs and music.  Featured performers are Daniel de Córdoba, Mercedes Padron, Claudia Reyes, Hailey Von Schlehenried, Ellen Herold, Tania Malagon and the Bailes Españoles Company, apprentices and students from the academy. Daniel de Córdoba Bailes Españoles is a not for profit organization. The mission of company is to foster the Hispanic arts.

    What: Dallas Memorial March/ Carry the Load
    When: Sun. May 28th – Mon. May 29th @ 7:00AM
    Where: Reverchon Park

    Why: The Memorial March and national relay Carry the Load is a two-day event that raises awareness and pays homage to our veterans and military families. The march begins at noon on Sunday and ends at 3 p.m. on Monday in observation of the National Moment of Remembrance. Participants can participate for 23 hours or for 20 minutes. During the march they will carry a load, which symbolizes carrying the fallen heroes we honor. Go online to sign up as an individual or as part of a team.

    What: Dallas Margarita Meltdown
    When: Sun. May 28th @ 2:00PM – 7:00PM
    Where: West End

    Why: Sample margaritas from dozens of Dallas area restaurants and bars at the 7th annual Dallas Margarita Meltdown. Mixologists will concoct their finest margaritas, and guests can sample and vote for their favorite. The fun event includes vendor and sponsor giveaways, bites, music and more.

    What: 7th Annual Brew-BQ
    When: Sun. May 28th @ 6:00PM – 10:00PM
    Where: Deep Ellum Brewing Company

    Why: Deep Ellum Brewing Co. celebrates on Memorial Day weekend with craft beer, barbecue, live music by Israel Nash, and carnival games. Price of admission includes BBQ plate, 3 beer coupons, live music. Dogs allowed in the field only.

    What: Memorial Day/ Lone Star Bark Day!
    When: Mon. May 29th @ 6:00PM – 10:00PM
    Where: Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie

    Why: Enjoy a dog-friendly day at the races at the 3rd annual Lone Star Bark. In addition to Thoroughbred racing, dog races, animal rescue organizations, pet friendly vendors and giveaways. The Family Fun Park will be open with bounce houses and other fun attractions. Free admission for all military veterans who present a valid military I.D. at the gate. Dogs are free but must be pre-registered.

    What: SOLUNA Festival: Memorial Day Concert and Fireworks Display
    When: Mon. May 29th @ 8:15PM
    Where: Flag Pole Hill Park

    Why: In celebration of Memorial Day, the SOLUNA Festival will be presenting a concert featuring the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. The concert will be followed by a fireworks display.
