    Why: The 2017 Mavs Run This Town 5K presented by Gatorade benefiting the Mavs Foundation will include a redesigned, USAT&F certified, fast, flat 5K course through Victory Park and the Design District and post-race party on Victory Plaza. Participants will receive entry into the Mavs Run This Town 5K presented by Gatorade benefiting the Mavs Foundation and access to the post race party featuring the DJ Poizon Ivy, a custom event t-shirt, and a ticket to an upcoming 2017-2018 Dallas Mavericks Game.

    What: Texas Ballet Theater presents Beauty and the Beast

    What: Oktober Craft Beer Festival

    Why: The second annual Craft Beer Festival, presented by The Lion & Crown Pub, features more than 20 Oktoberfest beers from area craft brewers, live music, arts vendors, children’s art activities, food and festival activities on The Green at Watters Creek. Local breweries participating include Samuel Adams, Deep Ellum, Lakewood, Nine Bands, Franconia, Tupps and Community.

    Why: The Dallas Chocolate Festival kicks off on Friday night with a circus-themed Midway Party and Chocolate Cake Walk featuring 30 gourmet cakes from popular Dallas eateries. On Saturday and Sunday, sample and shop chocolates, pastries and specialty foods from chocolate makers, chocolatiers and artisans, locally recognized and from across the United States. Free demonstrations and classes throughout the days.

    What: Gilbert Gottfried

    Why: At the young age of 15, Gilbert Gottfried began doing stand-up at open mike nights in New York City, after a few short years, became known around town as “the comedian’s comedian.” After spending several years mastering the art of stand-up comedy, producers of the legendary NBC late night comedy show Saturday Night Live became aware of Gottfried and, in 1980, hired him as a cast member. In 2017, “Gilbert” the documentary about Gilbert Gottfried premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. The film peeks behind the larger-than-life persona at a more personal story about growing up in Brooklyn and becoming a husband and father late in life. “Gilbert” premiers on Hulu, fall 2017.

    What: Pickups-N-Panels Classic Car and Truck Show

    Why: Pickups-N-Panels, a family oriented classic Chevy and GMC Truck Club, hosts its 18th annual show to raise money for VeteranHelp.org and the American Cancer Society. In addition to the classic vehicles on display, the day includes a variety of food, a bounce house, games, door prizes, auction and raffles

    What: Etsy Dallas Craft Party
